We took the four guys remodeling our house to lunch yesterday. It was good to be together and have some down time to just laugh and relax over some very good burgers and milkshakes. We all feel like family. All are such good, down to earth people. They are the kind of guys that if you had a flat tire or ran out of gas, they would drop what they were doing to come help.
It's going to be perhaps May, before we can move into the house. We are living in a cottage down the hill from our home. The cottage is a sweet little place that belongs to my daughter and her two dogs, so we are living in the guestroom for awhile. She enjoys having us here.
Here is a photo of the inside of the house - you can see that it is just down to its bare bones. Originally we only planned to upgrade a few of the house features. But before we knew it, it had become a full-blown remodel - practically a tear down and rebuild. Although it is taking much longer now because of the extent of the work, it will be great to have it completed as we want - our forever home.
The outside of the house is in various stages of completion. The new roof is on, and the siding is ALMOST all hung. And the cedar shake shingles are going up in their decorative places. Here is yesterday's view. As you can see, it's nothing special to the rest of the world, but to us it is our "Forever Home", and a sweet place to spend our retirement.
The countryside is a quiet, vast valley surrounded by the blue Mountains. Just perfect for us. And we have six acres to plant a fruit orchard, small vineyard, and a small veggie garden. Here is one of the views from the window facing the valley.
My latest lesson from Hummies World was on making strips of clear tape. I did add some designs to a few of them. Hope that you can find a use for them.
Thank you for the sweet comments. Wishing you a fantastic day,
Sunny
